The nationwide recall of numerous Philips Respironics CPAP and other sleep apnea machines has impacted a wave of United States veterans who received their CPAP devices through their local Veterans Affairs offices, as reported by FOX19.
U.S. Army Air veteran Alvin Costner spoke to FOX19 reporters about his trouble with the recalled CPAP machine. He explained that news of the recall has been particularly worrying to him, as his CPAP machine began emitting fumes a few months ago. Now, both his sleep apnea and his warranted distrust of the Philips CPAP machine keep him up at night.
“It’s frightening for me and my family,” Mr. Costner told reporters. “Like, as I said, my wife stays up to make sure I can continue to breathe overnight, and my children are concerned. … It’s quite a bit of stress just not knowing whether I’m going to be able to wake up the next day.”
